Ok

All the line on that design should be black. I don't know what happened.

Look! I finally got to play with color!

These are a couple textures I created for my most recent class assignment.
Here's thelast assignment I did. It's just an informal design but I had fun doing it.

This is another assignment I had to do this week. The instructions were simple: Create a design showing a formal structure using only black & white. If you think the flowers look like the no-slip stickers people put in their bathtubs, it's because they are suppose to.
"Formal structure is constructed in a rigid, mathematical manner. The space is divided equally or rhythmically. In formal structure the forms are organized with a strong sense of regularity." - my professor

I know this looks exactly like the design below it but it has been subtly improved. This is the design I used for my final for the assignment. I still like the assymetrical one better but all the feedback from my classmates and teacher pointed toward the triangle. I cleaned up the placement and expanded the background to balance it a little better.

Each project gets a little more complicated. So, for week 2, this is the first project:

Create a super-unit form using 2-4 black and/or white circles of the same size. Then, duplicate the super-unit form 2-4 times and utilize at least one of the following: translation, rotation, and/or reflection to create a black and white design."

I did a few different drafts. Which one do you like best? Any suggestions?

This is draft #1

And draft #2

And draft #3. It's colored in just so you can see the three different forms of four circles each.

Second assignment:
"Using only black and white, create a basic design with equal positive and negative space, so that the figure-ground relationship of the design fluctuates."
I did this design but then I didn't think it fit the description.

Here's my final project for this one.
Here's the assignment:

"Create a basic structure by overlapping two simple shapes within a frame. Then, using only black and white, create eight different distributions for this structure. The positioning of the two shapes should remain fixed in all eight variations."

This was my first draft.

This was my final project.

Sorry, all the pictures are a bit out of focus.

Just another angle. I didn't do a back view 'cause the back is kind of boring.

This is a character of Gretchen's, Cassandra. She is a cleric also.
Back view. He's a bard which explains the lute.

This is Mattie. He is the grown-up version of the kid Tom's playing for one of our games.

This is another shot.
He has a cool shield, too.

This is Tom's dwarven cleric.

This is a view of his cool shield.

This is the first figurine I painted for Tom so there was a lot of trial & error. He's just your basic fighter-y guy.
